Military Applications for Plastic Blast Media
With the requirement to change the camouflage of military vehicles when entering different theatres of war there is a surprisingly regular requirement to strip and repaint military vehicles. Work needs to be carried out quickly, with the minimum amount of damage to the underlying surface.
This regularity of coating removal is driven partly by a need to inspect high corrosion areas, particularly of welded joints. This requires that metal spray, such as zinc, in these welded areas remains unaffected by the stripping process.
Due of the relative softness of the shot blast media any cracks in the substrate are exposed without keening.
Dry plastic media stripping with acrylic and urea is common, leaving the surfaces clean and clear of dirt and paint, and ready to re-paint immediately.
